Based out of Toronto, Canada, Umair Nauman also known as DJ Lune has clearly established his presence in the South Asian music landscape as a DJ / Remix / Mixtape artist. Primarily recognized as a South Asian DJ, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of many music genres including Bollywood, Punjabi, House/Progessive, Hip-Hop RNB, Arabic and Fuzion/World music just to list a few. His ability to seamlessly integrate all of these genres during his live performances results in a sound experience that cannot be matched. He constantly seeks out new styles and sources of inspiration, which expand his craft further.

Career Highlights

Shahrukh Khan’s Toronto premier of Ra-One (2011)

Umair was selected as the official DJ for Shahrukh Khan’s Toronto premier of Ra-One. With over 3000 revelers gathered together on the day of Diwali (Oct 26 2011) at the Sound Academy (Downtown Toronto). The evening was full of energetic live performances by Shahrukh Khan himself with Fuzion Sounds DJ Lune delivering the best of Bollywood/Punjabi music to keep the crowd on their feet all night.

TV One Canada’s show Must One Features Fuzion Sounds DJ Lune (2011)

Recently TV One Canada invited DJ Lune to appear for an interview on their weekly show called Must One. Hosted by the energetic and fun loving hosts Wasim and Leena, the show has a following of over 50,000 viewers across all of Canada. The show was aired on Nov 12, 2011. Fuzion Sound’s DJ Lune performs with International Punjabi artist Imran Khan (2010)

In February 2010, the combined Pakistani Students Association from Universities of Toronto, Ryerson, Waterloo, York, Humber and Seneca, collaborated to celebrate their annual student formal. DJ Lune was one of the official DJ’s charged with the responsibility of entertaining over 1400 guests at Toronto’s luxurious Woodbine Convention Center. The VIP star of the evening was international singing sensation Imran Khan who electrified the crowd with his popular hits such Amplifier and Bounce Billo. As a recognition of his talents, PSA has selected Fuzion Sound’s DJ Lune for majority of PSA events since 2009.

Diwali Mix and Mingle with Bollywood Star Rahul Bose (2009)

In October 2009, Rahul Bose made a guest appearance at the annual Diwali Celebrations in Toronto to raise awareness for Global Warming. The event also included live comedic performances and a few Bollywood covers by Shweta Subram. The night was topped off with an amazing Bollywood set from Toronto’s own DJ Lune who kept the guests dancing late into the night.

Granite Lounge Annual Diwali Celebrations (2011)

Since 1875 Granite Club is considered Toronto’s most prestigious private members club, located in the affluent Lawrence and Bayview neighborhood. In 2011 the Indian Social Committee members of Granite Club organized the first official Diwali Celebration in the history of this Club. With over 500 guests present, the main objective of the event was to provide a cultural showcase of Indian Diwali traditions to their members. Umair Nauman was selected as the DJ, sound provider and entertainment coordinator for the event. The evening started with live music from Toronto’s Band Bhaja Brass who perfomed a live fuzion of Indian and western music. A spectacular display of fire works after dinner left the crowd in awe. The evening was topped of with DJ Lune’s live mix of Bollywood/Punjabi and Top40 music synchronized with live Dhol Precussions. The blend of music had been carefully selected to engage a mixed Indian/Canadian crowd. Following is a testimonial from the event coordinator after the event:

Dil Gala 2011 with Salman Ahmed from Sufi Rock Band “Junoon” (2011)

In June 2011, Umair was selected to DJ for Development In Literacy (DIL) annual Gala at 4 Seasons Hotel Downtown Toronto along side Salman Ahmed from the Sufi Rock Band Junoon. As a result of an energetic Bollyood/Punjabi/Top40 set to rock the crowd, Umair elicited rave reviews from DIL executives and attendants alike. Following is a testimonial from this event:

DJ Lune Featured on HUM 101.3 FM - April 2010 (2010)

HUM FM on Toronto’s FM 101.3 has invited DJ Lune on multiple occasions to perform live sets on their weekly South Asian Show. This show has over 10,000 listeners tuning in on a weekly basis.

Furthermore DJ Lune has performed alongside well known names in Toronto’s South Asian Music Scene including Parichay, RDB, Infamous Sound Crew, MC Satish Bala of Desi-Fest and more.

Remixes

Umair’s remix CD’s have been broadcasted on Toronto’s prominent South Asian Radio Station HUM FM 101.3 His remixes feature prominent names like Madonna, Punjabi Artist Imran Khan and Miss Pooja. Desi-Liscious Bollywood Party

Umair is currently the resident DJ for Desi-Liscious parties. Since early 2010, Desi-Liscious is a monthly Bollywood party hosted in Toronto’s most elite venues including Body English, Club XS, Cafe Mirage and Six Degrees. Desi-Liscious aims to blend Bollywood/Punjabi music with the latest Top40/House/Hip Hop club hits to give music lovers a fusion of their favourite music all in one place. Desi-Liscious parties also regularly feature local talents including singers and belly dancers to provide segments of live performences blended with the DJ set. Add to that the fact that Desi-Liscious is the only Desi party serving Sheesha (Hookah) in Toronto and you get a club going experience that is simply unrivalled.

1001 Nights Boat Cruise

Umair currently holds the title of resident DJ for 1001 Nights Boat Cruise events. Aimed towards the more mature clientele, 1001 Nights Boat cruises have been held at Torontos most luxurious Yachts including Enterprise 2000, Yankee Lady and Stella Borealis. 1001 nights boat cruises are recognized as the leading South Asian Boat parties in Toronto.

Fuzion Sound

Starting in 2010 Umair and his promoter Mo Hakim co-founded a venture called Fuzion Sound - A DJ and entertainment company that caters to weddings and private parties in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Fuzion Sound is considered to be the home of Toronto’s top South Asian DJ’s. They also provide a wide array of live entertainment services including Dhol players, Punjabi/Bollywood dancers, celebrity singers/MC’s, sitar/tabla/shehnai artists and for the first time in Toronto a live “Band Baaja Baraat group” for the traditional Grand Baraat Entrances.
